Bath Your Pet The Natural Way

Here are simple and safe recipes to bath your cat or dog. They are cheap, effective and chemical free. If we don’t use gloves when bathing out pets with commercial products we absorb the chemicals through our skin so it’s wise to use safe and natural products.

We use them on our dog Buster all the time.

We are unsure if they are good for other animals so do some research before using the following on any other pets.

Bath Wrap
3 Tbsp Rolled Oats
3 Tbsp herb of choice

Best for pets -Lavender, Mint, chamomile to start.

Tie these ingredients in some cheese cloth or recycled fabric and put in your bath. Squeeze to release creamy herbal water into bath. Wash your pet with it like a bar of soap, squeezing and rubbing as you wash.

The lavender and chamomile work at healing any little nicks or cuts, the lavender and mint work at deterring pests, and the oats work to soften the skin.

Pet pests
When bathing your pet, you can use apple cider vinegar to rinse his or her fur. Fleas don't like the smell or taste.

¼-cup vinegar
2 Lt water

Essential Oils
You can add up to 5 drops of essential oil to the bath water. Good oils to use are

Lavender
Rosemary
Geranium

The help keep pests at bay. Other effective natural repellents include lemon, cedar, eucalyptus, myrrh, and rosewood

Put a drop of lavender oil on your pets collar.

A safe, easy homemade flea repellent

5 drops Lavender essential oil
250ml water
20 ml apple Cider Vinegar

Spritz your pet's fur, taking care not to spray near the eyes. Don't spray anywhere near the dog's face, apply spray to the hand or a cloth then rub it on the fur.

You can use this spray for their bedding and as a doggy deodorant.

You can also use herbal waters in place of essential oils, they can be just as effective.

Warning- do not use a high dose of essential oils as it can put off a pets sense of smell, they may appear disorientated. If this occurs bath your pet right away, also if there is any reaction discontinue use.

There you have it, easy and natural ways to bath your pet. You can have your pet smelling fresh all the time.
